Lucky Stiff

To make Vinnie's inhaler, I based it off of the reference on the left. I source the bottles off amazon, and used the band saw to make the end shorter. I used the band saw again to cut the bottom of the PVC attachment to give realism. I used water down paint to make the bottle opaque. I super glued the PVC attachment to the bottle then Mod Podged the label to the bottle.

I made the menus on Canva Pro. The Le Train Bleu menu book is plan black while the Club Continetale had decor on it. I printed out the corner decoration and made it into a stencil, then painted it gold. At first, I used stickers to spell out "Club Continentale", but they kept falling off. I then traced the letters then painted them gold so that we wouldn't have the stickers falling off anymore.

To make the faux champagne, we used 24 epoxy. I followed the directions on the jugs (2 part A, 1 part B) and used one drop of yellow food coloring. The epoxy dries darker, so little color is better.

Dorothy's Dictionary

Book covers made on Canva Pro. Titles are named in the script. The trickiest part of the process was getting the size just right, but as I went on it got easier.

Dames at Sea

To make the Navy banner, we first cut a stencil of the logo we wanted. After it was painted, I went outside to soak it in a paint water mixture to darken it. I added dirt marks with a chip brush. This fabric is paint tarp so it was tricky soaking it with the plastic backing, but it worked out in the end.

When Thou Wakest

The back drape of When Thou Wakest was about 65 feet of fabric, a very daunting task. Thankfully, I had a partner that helped out. First, we started by measuring out where we will sew on the tape with hooks. Once they were sewn on, we laid out the fabric and pleated it to the board that would go behind the columns. We handed off the drape to our technical director, Timothy White, who ran cable through the tape with hooks so that it can be pulled up and down back stage. This was a fun project that built my sewing confidence completely.

The Pippin banner was a project I was eager to make. The banner was about 8 feet long, and took a couple of days to sew. I did a straight stitch to make the loops fit around the PVC pipe, and later ironed on the sun design created by the scenic designer. I worked on this with another student that I never got to meet, so it was a fun challenge to create without having communication. I painted the PVC to look like wood, and used PVC cement to ensure that it wouldn't break on stage. We stenciled out the letters and used regular black and gold acrylic paint.

For Gloria, we need a fake blood recipe that didn't stain the costumes but was opaque for the stage. I made the blood packets for each show that we hit in the under garments and a special pouch on the actors.
